BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

 

Agoro Sare High School is an extra-county boys school in Rachuonyo South Sub-county, Homabay County. It is situated on a 16ha piece of land within Oyugis Town. It   was started in the year 1963 as a single- streamed school. In the same year, His Excellency the late president Mzee Jomo Kenyatta visited the school and donated funds for the construction of three dormitories. On 18th February, 1968, the then Vice President and Minister for Home Affairs Hon.Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi officially opened the school.

 

The school became a double stream in 1973. Due to good performance of the school, the demand for admission has steadily increased over the years and the school now is officially registered as a ten-stream school and currently has a population of 2350. The school has a staff establishment of 89 teachers, 67 of which are employed by TSC while 22 are BOM teachers. There is a total of 57 members of the support staff.
